Dr. Carim is a graduate of Drexel University and Jefferson Medical College. He completed his internship at Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia, PA and his residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. His vitreoretinal fellowship training was given at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.
Michael D. Cefaratti, M.D.
Dr. Cefaratti, Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Surgeon, has been practicing in Berks County since 1963. He is a graduate of Villanova University and Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Cefaratti completed his internship at St. Josephโs Medical Center, Reading, PA, and his residency at Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology and specializes in Ocular Plastics.
Leah R. Wartluft, M.D.
Dr. Wartluft, Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Surgeon, is a graduate of Drexel University and Temple Medical School, Philadelphia, PA. She completed her internship at St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, IL, and her residency at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. She practices comprehensive ophthalmology and specializes in cataract surgery and glaucoma.
Daniel V. Will, M.D.
Dr. Will, Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Surgeon, is a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington DC and his residency at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York, NY. He received his fellowship in medical and surgical retina at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, NY. He was the Director of Retina Service and Vitreo-Retina Fellowship at Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia from 2007 to 2010.
Jeremy L. Aikey, D.O., MBA
Dr. Aikey, Ophthalmologist and Surgeon, specializes in treatment of diseases and surgery of the retina. He is a graduate of Lehigh University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Haab School of Business of St. Josephโs University. He completed his internship and residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, OH. His fellowship in vitreo-retina surgery and diseases was received at Retina and Vitreous of Texas in Houston, TX.
Nicole M. Forney, O.D.
Dr. Nicole Forney joined the Carim Eye and Retina Center eye care team in 2004. Her specialized training in Optometry affords her the ability to provide personalized comprehensive care in ocular diseases ranging from Glaucoma to Diabetes. She also manages ocular surface disease such as dry eye, eye infections and ocular inflammation. She fits a variety of contact lenses including lenses for astigmatism and presbyopia.
Dr. Forney is attentive to the needs of her patients and tailors her treatment approach to address their concerns. Born and raised in Schuylkill County, PA, Dr. Forney has had a life long love of learning. She earned a BS in Molecular Biology from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA in 1999. She graduated from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Elkins Park, PA with a BS in Visual Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003. In her tenure at Carim Eye and Retina Center, she has dedicated herself to training future Optometrists through a shadowing program affiliated with Alvernia University where prospective students of Optometry can learn more about the profession. Dr. Forney has also provided training and valuable experience to Optometry Externs from her alma mater. She has been an investigator in clinical research for pharmaceutical companies in her office. Dr. Forney resides in Minersville, PA. She enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs. She is an avid reader and enjoys history, travel and Broadway shows.
Leanna Lape, O.D.
Dr. Lape has 24 years of experience in patient care. She graduated from Schuykill Valley High School, Millersville University, and Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Lape takes pride to offer her patients the best possible solution to their visual needs in a caring, attentive manner! When she is not caring for her patients, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking her dog, and doing outdoor activities, such as skiing, hiking, and biking.
